Liquid Thrive, Liquid "Gypsum", and Remedi-Cal Plus
This product should be applied to the soil and will require additional watering after application therefore there is not a specific dilution rate that must be used. We recommend using enough water with the product to get even coverage over your measured area. Below are some tips and recommendations based on our own experience and feedback.
Our Recommendation
The Soil Logic RTS Quart Sprayer has a hose-end applicator that is designed to apply 32 ounces (1 quart) of product in approximately 8-10 minutes. Gauge your walking pace so your measured area gets even coverage. One (1) quart will cover 1000 square feet of application area at the recommended rate or 500 square feet at a double rate. The Soil Logic Ready-to-Spray Applicator is reusable and has been specifically calibrated for applying this product. We recommend refilling the RTS Sprayer with the 1 gallon or 2.5 gallon containers for large area applications.
Hose-end Sprayers
There are many different brands and types of hose-end sprayers available at lawn and garden centers such as the Gilmour Select-n-Spray or the Ortho Dial-n-Spray. For the application of this product any sprayer setting may be used as long as the measured area is evenly covered. We recommend a high setting due to the amount of the volume of the product needed per 1000 square feet.
Gilmour Select-n-Spray - Fill container with amount needed, for example 32 oz. if treating 1000 square feet at the normal rate or 500 square feet at the double rate. Put setting on 8 oz. and follow sprayer directions. Spray with even passes over area to be treated until container is empty. It will take approximately 12-15 minutes to use the 32 oz at the 8 ounce setting.. For soil applications such as this, a larger droplet size is preferred so if possible adjust your nozzle accordingly. Area should be watered for 10 minutes after this type of application to move the product into the soil.
Hand Held Sprayers or Backpack sprayers
Hand held Sprayer - 16 oz. of product per gallon of water. Fill container with 1 gallon of water and add 16 oz. of product. Gently mix, pressurize and evenly apply over measured area. It will take approximately 20 minutes to apply the mix and around 45 minutes to apply 32 oz. of product. Area should be watered for 15-20 minutes after this type of application. Some larger hand held sprayers (2-3 gallon) have better pumping ability and 32 oz of product per gallon of water can be used. For soil applications such as this, a larger droplet size is preferred so if possible adjust your nozzle accordingly.
E-Z Flo Hose-end Unit
Put the amount of product needed for treatment area in the unit and fill to the top with water. Follow manufacturer's application instruction's on hooking up to the hose bib. Place setting on FAST and start evenly applying product over measured area. A sprinkler can be used at the end of the garden hose and we would recommend the setting on 1 or 2 in this instance. Please be aware that unit refills with water as product is siphoned out. You will know when the product has been used when the tubing is clear. Due to the volume of water used in this application, area should receive a minimal amount of watering in, such as 5 minutes to rinse the product off plant blades.
Tips
The application rate of the product varies depending on the soil conditions, maintenance standards, current condition and desired effect.
Many of our professional and residential users use a double or triple rate on their first application with great results.
Even at high application rates no plant or turf damage will occur as long as product is watered in.
Watering afterward is important. The product needs to move into the soil to work and plant blades need to be rinsed off. Continue with regular watering. In cases of high salts, areas may need to be leached to drive problems salts through the root zone.
Some garden plants can be sensitive. To ensure no phytotoxicity make sure plant leaves are rinsed and product is moved into the soil.
Product is safe to apply any time of year as long as you have the ability to water the product into the soil.
Applications before expected rainfall are ideal Applications right after aerification allow product to move into the soil easier.
