LIQUID "THRIVE"

Liquid "Thrive" remedies sodium and/or salt problems, clay and compacted soils, soggy soils, and water drainage problems. It also addresses soil erosion and problems associated with poor or reclaimed irrigation water.

Liquid "
Thrive" is a liquid formulation of calcium chloride, surfactants, penetrants, humectants, and a water soluble polyacrylamide, also known as PAM, that work together in a synergistic manner to create a unique soil conditioner.

Important: The water soluble polymer, which is in Liquid "Thrive" is not the same product as the super absorbent polymer gels which swell up when in the presence of water. Water soluble polymer does not swell in the presence of water; it is dissolved in the water and is left behind attached to soil particles when the water evaporates.

Benefits of Liquid "THRIVE"

  1. Liquid "Thrive" reacts with clay in soil with synergistic effects from organic matter in soil to give stable soil particles which do not form a crust on the surface after an irrigation. Water then runs into the soil (infiltration) instead of running off into streets and gutters. A larger percentage of rain water will penetrate the soil surface when it is treated with Liquid "Thrive".
  2. Roots grow deeper into soil treated with Liquid "Thrive" due to the creation of stable soil particles. The spaces between these soil particles (aggregates) are called pore spaces which store water, nutrients, and air. Roots move easily through these pore spaces.
  3. A crumbly soil mulch, much like large grains of sand, become visible after the use of Liquid "Thrive" and acts like other mulches to retain soil moisture below the surface.
  4. Turf and other ground-covers grown in soil treated with Liquid "Thrive" are less likely to form thatch. Roots growing above hard, compacted soil tend to create thatch because it is easier than trying to penetrate such hard soil. Improved pore structure in Liquid "Thrive" treated soil allows roots to penetrate the soil much easier.
  5. Seedling emergence is much easier in soil treated with Liquid "Thrive".
  6. Treating soil and plant material already planted on slopes will permit applied water to penetrate the soil surface much easier eliminating most water runoff.
  7. Where salts are a soil problem (saline) treatment of the soil with Liquid "Thrive" will improve the ability of the soil to be irrigated to carry away (leach) salts away from the root zone.
  8. Use of Liquid "Thrive" makes it possible to more easily use reclaimed water for landscape irrigation without it causing compaction of clay soil. Damage to plant leaves from the salts in reclaimed water is also reduced.

Other Observable Benefits of Liquid "Thrive"
  • Nearly 100% survival of transplanted trees and shrubs.
  • Improved plant growth; greater yields of flowers, fruits, and vegetables
  • Less iron deficiency symptoms on leaves
  • Fertilizers, especially those containing urea, seem to work better.
  • Soil is easier to physically cultivate.
  • There are fewer soil borne diseases that cause plants to die from root rot.
  • There is no soil erosion.

where is it safe to use?

Liquid "Thrive" Safety: Liquid "Thrive" leaves no toxic residues in soil or on plant leaves when it is applied and as it decomposes.

How Long Will a Treatment Last?: At the recommended application rate it is estimated that monthly treatments for 6 to 12 months will result in a flocculated soil capable of sustaining plant growth for about 5 years. This is, of course, dependent upon the initial condition of the soil when treatments began. There would be no harm done to plants or soil if users applied the product regularly year in and year out if they wanted to do so.

How Does Liquid "
Thrive" Compare to Aerifying or Rototilling Soil?: Research has proven that the physical manipulation of soil rarely imparts a benefit to the soil structure and its ability to drain water and support plant life beyond one month. If Liquid "Thrive" is applied immediately after aerifying or immediately before rototilling the beneficial effect of the physical manipulation can be extended up to 3 months. If subsequent treatments are applied to the manipulated areas the amount of time it would take to gain optimal benefit would be reduced to 6 to 9 months.

How Does Liquid "
Thrive" Compare to Regular Dry Gypsum?: In order for dry gypsum to work properly it must be tilled into the soil. Liquid "Thrive" can be sprayed over the top of bare soil or over the top of landscape plants and once it contacts soil it begins to work immediately. The response to an application of dry gypsum is counted in months and years. Dry gypsum, when spread over turf, ground-cover, or ornamental plants is comparatively ineffective. The calcium content of a one quart bottle of LT is equivalent to the soluble content of gypsum in 4 – 50 pound bags of dry gypsum.
Liquid "Thrive" contains a high level of soluble calcium which displaces the sodium. This then creates pore spaces in the soil. The effectiveness of the calcium is compounded by the use of a polyacrylamide (PAM) that attaches to the soil particle and remains in the soil for years, helping the soil structure to resist collapsing. The effect of the PAM is cumulative and long lasting.
Benefits:
  • Improves clay soils by displacing sodium, immediately decreasing ESP
  • Releases salts, lowering soil EC
  • Improves soil drainage
  • Reduces crusting and improves infiltration of water and nutrients
Also:
  • Can help overcome problems with reclaimed water usage
  • Eliminates standing water
  • Non-hazardous
  • Fewer soil-borne diseases
  • Increases soil CEC immediately
  • Helps maintain healthy balance of nutrients for the plant
